The Quarterly Archive Review Checklist
Four questions every household should answer once a season to keep their USB archive accurate without a full practitioner visit.
A USB archive is only useful on the day you need it. These four questions take most households under twenty minutes and prevent the slow drift that turns a tidy binder into a guessing game.
1. Does the device count match the index?
Walk through your home and count every hardware wallet. Compare that number to the first page of your binder. If they differ, note which device is missing from the index — or which index entry refers to a device you no longer own.
2. Are backup envelopes still where the index says?
Open the binder to the storage location page. Visit each listed drawer, safe, or bank box. If an envelope moved, update the index before you forget the new location.
3. Has firmware or model changed on any device?
A wallet replaced after a firmware brick or an upgrade to a newer model needs a new photograph and serial number in the archive. You do not need a full session — a phone photo added to the USB folder and a handwritten note in the binder may suffice until your next practitioner visit.
4. Do all signing adults still agree on roles?
Ask each person who holds a key: “Is this still your spending wallet?” Role drift is normal. Document changes on the household access map page.
When to call us
If any answer reveals a gap you cannot resolve in twenty minutes — an unlabeled envelope, a device with no matching backup entry, or a role dispute between household members — schedule a recovery documentation review.
